This is Siep
For the people who live in my home town of Den Bosch probably know him already. From the posters, the pictures on the library walls and furniture in the children's department. Making Siep was one of the best projects I have done.
The Den Bosch library was looking for a brand mascot and Message in a Drawing was asked to design the character. After deliberation we chose for an animal (that way we avoided special appearances so it would appeal to many kids from different ages). A frog was chosen.
The frog had to match the library, appeal to very young as well as kids a little older. Above all, it had to be recognizable for the School Libraries in and around Den Bosch.
That was over 5 years ago. Siep is well known to kids. And I still make four posters a year with Siep in a appropriate setting, always busy with reading. You can keep on using a good character and it will keep on working.
